Retail and restaurant buildings are under construction near the tollway.
Construction is underway on the next phase of The Gate — one of Frisco’s most successful mixed-use developments.
The 49-acre, $1 billion Gate project is on the Dallas North Tollway just north of the Dallas Cowboys’ Star mixed-use project in Frisco.
The Gate is a project of Dubai-based Invest Group Overseas.
An excavation underway on in the project on John Hickman Parkway at Dubai Way will be the site of a new retail development.
The 35,000-square-foot building will house a Govindji’s jewelry store plus restaurants with underground parking, said Hatem Mojahed, the Gate project manager for Invest Group Overseas.
“They are planning to open at end of 2021,” Mojahed said in an email.
The city of Frisco also just approved another 16,000-square-foot retail project across the street, which Invest Group Overseas plans to start later this year.
It’s next to San Antonio-based developer Embrey Partners’ Domain apartments, one of the first projects in The Gate.
Irving-based apartment builder JPI also constructed a rental community in The Gate.
And Dallas-based JMJ Development has announced plans for a 28-story tower in The Gate that will include 225 luxury hotel rooms and 150 condo units at the corner of Hickman Parkway and the tollway.
The Gate also has sites for office development.
Invest Group Overseas announced details for The Gate in 2014 with plans for more than 2.3 million square feet of construction.
